Robert Graham Conservation Area Temporarily Closed for Maintenance

Robert Graham Conservation Area, located on Glen Stewart Road in Brinston, is the perfect spot to reconnect with nature.  Filled with mature sugar maples and conifers, it provides excellent habitat for wildlife and is open year-round for activities from hiking and snowshoeing to geocaching.

The Conservation Area is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified, meaning that it is managed to standards designed to improve forest health, increase forest productivity, protect species diversity and wildlife habitat, and maintain social benefits, such as outdoor recreation.

“We will be harvesting some of the trees at Robert Graham Conservation Area starting in early September.  We will be removing lesser quality trees and retaining those that are good quality to improve the overall forest health,” said Pat Piitz, Team Lead Property.

For public safety, the property will be closed for 8 weeks starting in early September.  It will re-open in time for the public to enjoy winter activities.

“While Robert Graham is closed, the public is encouraged to visit SNC’s 13 other Conservation Areas throughout the jurisdiction,” added Piitz.

Located just a few kilometers away in Morrisburg along Highway #2 is the Two Creeks Conservation Area.  Visitors can enjoy 4.5 km of marked trails with interpretive signage throughout this coastal ecosystem with grassland floodplains and lowland forests.

Robert Graham and Two Creeks are part of SNC’s network of 14 Conservation Areas available free of charge to residents, providing countless recreational opportunities to discover wildlife and their habitat in Eastern Ontario.  Visit www.nation.on.ca to find out more about your local Conservation Areas ready for you to explore.
