Animal Control
The Township regulates and restricts dogs within the municipality. Each year, the owner of a dog must register the dog with the municipality and purchase a 'dog tag'. The tag must be securely affixed on the dog at all times. There is a maximum of 3 dogs per location.
Dog tags may be purchased at the Municipal Office in Williamsburg or purchased from an authorized vendor during his/her annual door-to-door visit. Dog kennel licenses are available for kennel owners. Both the tag and the kennel licenses are valid for the calendar year only and must be renewed.
Dogs must be under control at all times. Should you walk your dog, please carry a bag or device to collect any waste from your dog - stoop and scoop please. The Township employs an animal control officer who may impound any dogs running at large. The owner will be required to pay a pound fee for retrieve his/her dog if the officer impounds it. Any dog remaining after three days (excluding Saturdays and Sundays) may be sold or destroyed.
No person shall permit a dog to create a disturbance or nuisance by barking, howling, whining, damaging public or private property, or chasing vehicles/pedestrians.
Absolutely no vicious dogs are permitted in South Dundas unless they are in a secured area at all times and if not, securely leashed (not exceeding 2.4 metres in length) and muzzled at all times. Vicious dogs are not permitted in kennels.
