Fire Protection Services
The Township of South Dundas has a volunteer fire department consisting of three fire stations. The stations are located in Morrisburg, Iroquois and Williamsburg. Each fire station has a fire chief and full compliment of officers and fire fighters (between 20 and 24 fire personnel per station).
As well, the Township contracts with the Township of North Dundas for first response coverage in the northerly sections of the Township, and with the Township of Edwardsburgh-Cardinal for first response coverage in the south-westerly section of the Township.
The fire departments provide full fire protection coverage, including suppression, prevention and education programs, inspections, fire code reviews and pre-planning, as well as various emergency rescues.
Burn Permits
There is no open burning in the villages and hamlet areas. For all other areas, a burn permit is required. There is no charge for a burn permit and it may be obtained from the Township Office in Williamsburg during regular business hours. Anyone who burns without a permit may be charged.
Please see attached burn permit application forms and by-laws for open air burning:
- Small pile form
- Large pile/several piles or agriculture purpose form
- By-laws
These forms need to be either brought in to the Township Office or faxed for further information on permission to burn.
