Waste Management Services
The Township has a multi-faceted waste management program. It provides curbside garbage and recycling pick-ups, owns and operates two landfill sites and two community compost sites, and participates with North Dundas in its household hazardous waste program.
Landfill Sites
The Township has two landfill sites: one in the Williamsburg ward and the other in the Matilda ward. The Williamsburg landfill site is located at 4021 County Road 8 and the Matilda landfill site is located at 10815 Seibert Road.

The landfill sites are closed on statutory holidays.
Tipping Fees and Charges
Garbage Collection
The Township has weekly curbside, residential garbage pick-up. Businesses are permitted to take advantage of this pick-up but must comply with the Township's garbage policies. All residents and businesses are permitted to set out two garbage bags at curbside. Any additional garbage must be in an authorized garbage bag issued by the Township and sold at various locations in the Township. The price of additional garbage bags is $1.25 per bag.
Collection Regulations
- Refuse must be placed at curbside no later than 7:00 am on the day of collection.
- Empty containers must be removed from the curbside no later than 8:00 pm on the day of collection.
- Each resident may place a maximum of two bags/containers per week. Any garbage in excess of the two bags/containers must be in an approved bag purchased from the Township or its authorized sellers.
- Bags not collected must be removed from the curbside by 8:00 pm on the day of collection.
- Garbage bags must be securely tied, maximum width of 66 cm (26"), maximum height of 91 cm (36"), and do not exceed 22.5 kg (50 lb). No oversized leaf and yard bags.
- Residents may use a garbage container that does not exceed the above measures and weight when full - no 45-gallon drums or tote carts.
- No person shall place for collection any garbage in front on any address except the address at which the garbage is generated.
- Recyclable material (see below), tires, demolition and construction material, animal feces, liquids, furniture and appliances, paints, oils, batteries, propane tanks, and other hazardous material will not be collected.
- Any broken glass must be wrapped in paper or cardboard and placed in a manner safe to collect.
Waste Collection Schedule and Map
Recycling
The Township has a blue box and a green box recycling program. Both are curbside pick-ups designed for residences. Businesses are permitted to take advantage of this pick-up but must comply with the Township's recycling policies.
Blue box collection and green box collection are collected on alternate weeks and on the same day as garbage collection. One week, the green box material will be collected; the following week the blue box material will be collected.

Collection Regulations:

- Recyclable material not collected must be removed from the curbside by 8:00 pm on the day of collection.
- Ensure that all items are free of residue, flattened and that no loose material is on top that will blow away.
- Recyclable material shall not exceed more than one or two boxes maximum per week.
Replacement or additional blue boxes and green boxes may be purchased for $7.00 each at the Township Offices.
Composting
The Township has two community compost sites. They are located in the village of Morrisburg and the village of Iroquois. Volunteers operate both sites during the late spring, summer and early autumn seasons only.
Household Hazardous Waste
The Township participates with the Township of North Dundas in its household hazardous waste program. Any resident from South Dundas may take his/her household hazardous waste to the depot located at:

There are no tipping or dumping charges to you. However, you will be required to produce your driver's license or other identification that can confirm your place of residence in South Dundas.
