South Dundas Public Works maintains 363 km of Roads, Sidewalks, 31 Bridges, 4 Level Railway Crossings and 2 Overpasses. The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry maintain all County Roads (such as County Road 31, County Road 2 and County Road 4).


Roads are 90% hard top which consists of asphalt, surface treatment or micro-surfaced. The Municipality has a full complement of staff and equipment to maintain and repair the roads year round. Most construction and reconstruction of roads are tendered out to private firms.


South Dundas Public Works maintains sidewalks along busy roadways in Morrisburg, Iroquois and Williamsburg in order to ensure pedestrian safety.

Winter Parking Regulations

Please be advised that parking on Municipal roads is prohibited between 12:00 am and 7:00 am from November 15 to April 15. A vehicle which is parked in a manner interfering with snow clearing or removal operations may be issued a ticket and/or removed at the owner’s expense.

Parking in any Municipal owned parking lot is prohibited between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am year round.

Ice and Snow

It is unlawful to push snow onto or across a public roadway or onto another property without the authorization of the property owner. Dangerous accumulations of ice and snow are to be removed from a roof where they overhang public roadways, sidewalks or public access areas to buildings.

Road Permits

The Municipality of South Dundas issues the following permits for the use of its road allowances:

Application for permits are also available at the Municipal Office. There is a processing fee for each permit. The Municipality will determine whether the request will be permitted and the standards, material and equipment required. All costs relating to the work are the responsibility of the applicant.
