Businesses in South Dundas are serviced by leading edge infrastructure, available at affordable prices and with ample capacity to support growth. The Municipality and its partners are continuously investing in leading edge infrastructure including water, sewer and fiber optics to ensure the community prospers.
Development is facilitated by having no business development fees offering a cost advantage of up to $20/sq. ft. compared to larger city centres.
Water and Sewer Servicing
The Villages of Morrisburg and Iroquois are serviced by a regional water treatment plant and respective sewage treatment facilities. Sewer services are also available in the hamlet of Williamsburg.
South Dundas Water Treatment Plant
The Water Treatment Plant was operational as of June 2006 and services the Villages of Morrisburg and Iroquois. It is designed to provide capacity for a twenty year period with a capacity of over 9,000 m3 per day.
The facility uses a state of the art membrane filtration system as well as granular activated carbon contractors to eliminate any odours and taste.
Waste Water Treatment
Both of South Dundas’ Waste Water Treatment Plants are designed to serve the community for 50 years with capacity to treat additional affluent.
An 18 Million dollar project to upgrade the Iroquois Waste Water Treatment Plant was completed in July 2014. Improvements included the addition of a secondary treatment process to further reduce the impact of wastewater on the local environment as well as increase the plant’s overall capacity, efficiency and reliability.
The Morrisburg Waste Water Treatment Plant came into service in 2009 and a lagoon system serves the Village of Williamsburg.
South Dundas Water and Sewer Rates
Residents and businesses pay the same water and sewer rates in South Dundas. Charges for monthly sewer services are calculated as a factor the residence/business’ water bill (excluding capital levies). There is a fixed annual levy per connection for use of the Williamsburg lagoon.

Hydro
The Villages of Morrisburg, Iroquois and the hamlet of Williamsburg are serviced by a local distribution company, Rideau St. Lawrence Distribution. Similar to a large portion of Eastern Ontario, the rural areas in South Dundas are serviced by Hydro One Networks Inc.
Rideau St. Lawrence Distribution has lower distribution charges offering businesses within that service area a cost advantage. For a typical small business using 2,000 kWh/month, this can result in a savings of over $750 per year.

Union Gas is the natural gas provider in South Dundas with service available in Morrisburg, Iroquois, Williamsburg and the area surrounding some secondary highways.

The Municipality was one of the first ever Canadian municipalities to have its village businesses fully connected by fibre optics. That network was most recently expanded upon as part of Eastern Ontario Rural Network project which aimed to improve internet access with higher speeds and bandwidths to at least 95 per cent of homes and businesses in Eastern Ontario.
Wired DSL service is available in the more densely populated areas including Morrisburg, Iroquois and Williamsburg. Surrounding areas are serviced by wireless or satellite service with speeds of up to 10 Mbps. 10 Mbps is sufficient bandwidth to browse the internet, share large files, stream video and do video conferencing.

The Municipality of South Dundas offers tax rates which are comparable to surrounding communities and competitive relative to small and large city centres. For industrial businesses, that savings is 1.1% to 1.6% compared to the neighbouring communities of Brockville and Cornwall respectively.
