South Dundas takes National Economic Development Marketing Award Top Honours

The Municipality of South Dundas took top honours in the Social Media/App Marketing Award as announced by the Economic Development Association of Canada (EDAC) during their Virtual Awards Ceremony held on March 7, 2022. EDAC is Canada’s national Economic Development Association with 1,000 members nationwide.

The EDAC National Economic Development Marketing Awards honour economic development marketing efforts from across Canada. This is the second year in a row that South Dundas has received an award from EDAC.

The award recognized the South Dundas ‘Tourism Pursuit App’ that was developed by the Municipality of South Dundas in partnership with the Gaming Programming students from St Lawrence College – Cornwall Campus.

“Given EDAC is a national association, the awards competition is extremely competitive,” says Economic Development Officer, Rob Hunter. “Winning this award is a real honour for our Municipality.”

“The South Dundas Tourism Pursuit Gaming App in my opinion, is an enjoyable and effective aid in promoting tourism in South Dundas. I am very happy to hear that the Tourism Pursuit App has won this award,” says Norene Hyatt-Gervais, Chair of the South Dundas Tourism Advisory Committee.

“Council is proud that South Dundas has been recognized for this Award. The project took tremendous effort from all of those involved. Everyone pulled together in partnership during this project to provide both South Dundas residents and our visitors with a very unique way to experience tourism in the Municipality,” added Mayor Byvelds.

The app was development by the South Dundas Tourism Advisory Committee, Municipal Staff and the Gaming Students from St. Lawrence College under the leadership of Gaming Professor, James Dupuis all who worked to get the App up and running in time for the 2021 Tourism Season. Updates are expected to the app in the coming months with more for users to enjoy and explore.
