History
The Carman House Museum was built around 1815 by Micheal Carman III, of German Palatine Loyalist descent. The Museum is a Georgian-era limestone cottage. The family was part of the Loyalist migration after the American Revolutionary War, receiving the grant of land in 1784 for their loyal service to the Crown in that war. It is also one of 2 of the original buildings in Iroquois which were not moved due to the construction of the St Lawrence Seaway in the 1950's.
