“2022 – 50 never Tubie forgotten!”
Morrisburg’s Tubie Festival is half a century old and this year will be a special year to participate in an iconic event that has been one of the area’s most popular celebrations for five decades. Residents and former residents of our community have come together once a year to party with friends by enjoying the parade, the dance along the waterfront and, of course, the ever-popular and competitive race itself down the mighty St. Lawrence. Tubie Festival Committee Chair, Lois Casselman, is very excited about the plans for this year. “We have added an additional race on Sunday that will attract more contestants to get out on the beautiful St. Lawrence River to enjoy one of South Dundas’ biggest assets.”
Things will start rolling on Friday night with an Open Mic event from 7pm to 10 pm. The talented local band Rogue will MC the event that will certainly attract many local musicians.
The much-anticipated Tubie Parade will start at the Waterfront Park and wind its way through town on Saturday July 30 starting at 1:00 pm followed by the Tubie Dance from 8:00 pm till 12:30 am featuring The Velocity’s.
On Sunday, July 31, the Big Event, the Tubie Race itself, starts at noon from Arlor Haven to the Morrisburg Beach. The all-new secondary race will start at 1:00 pm from the Morrisburg Dock to the Morrisburg Beach. Rogue will be providing the entertainment in the beer gardens from 12:00 to 6:00 pm.
Tribeck Inflatables will be in the park both days from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm with fun filled rides free of charge for the kids. Vendors are welcome to participate on Saturday and Sunday and Docksyde will be providing food throughout the weekend. Beavertails will also be on site for everyone to enjoy!
The Tubie Festival is sponsored and hosted by the Morrisburg Lions Jr C Hockey Team. Hockey is a Canadian sport that encourages an active life style, sportsmanship, discipline and the opportunity to be part of a team. Without the support of our community these young players would not be able to enjoy this sport right here in Morrisburg.
