Types of Meetings
Meetings Open to the Public: Almost all regular Council and Committee meetings are Open to the Public.  The public is welcome to attend and observe.  These meetings follow a set agenda with all information being presented or discussed published in advance. There isn't a formal opportunity for observers to speak to Council or Committee members during these meetings.  If you have thoughts or concerns about a topic on the agenda, let staff, Council or Committee members know them before the meeting takes place.

Public Meetings: A Public Meeting is a special meeting where members of the public can attend and speak directly to Council or a Committee as part of the agenda. Comments from the public are formally documented as part of the meeting record. In some cases (like zoning changes), a public meeting is legally required under the Planning Act.  Council can also hold a Public Meeting when they want direct input on other issues.Come prepared to share your thoughts when you attend a Public Meeting!

Open House: An Open House is informal by design. The public is welcome to attend, ask questions and share feedback. There is no agenda or formal record.  An Open House is the chance to have a one-on-one conversation with the people working on the issue.
