Municipality of South Dundas Celebrates Grand Opening of Alinova Canada in Morrisburg

The Municipality of South Dundas joined provincial and international partners to celebrate the Grand Opening of Alinova Canada Inc., a new soymilk powder processing facility located in Morrisburg. The event was attended by Ontario's Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, Vic Fedeli, alongside representatives from the Japanese Embassy.

The opening marks a significant milestone for the region, representing a successful example of foreign direct investment and international partnership driving economic growth in South Dundas and the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SDG).

“Today marks an exciting milestone for Morrisburg and for South Dundas. Alinova's decision to establish Canada's first non-GMO soymilk powder processing facility here is a strong vote of confidence in our community, our workforce, and our agricultural sector.
By processing local crops here at home and exporting a made-in-Ontario product to global markets, Alinova is creating new opportunities for our farmers, local suppliers, and the entire regional economy. We are proud to welcome Alinova to Morrisburg and thank the Province of Ontario for its partnership in supporting this transformative investment. This is exactly the kind of forward-looking project that helps build a stronger, more prosperous future for South Dundas.” - Jason Broad, Mayor, Municipality of South Dundas

Alinova Canada is a joint venture between Marusan Ai Co., Japan's second-largest soymilk producer, and Ontario-based DJ Hendrick International Inc. (DJHII). The new facility, a retrofitted manufacturing plant in Morrisburg, is Canada's first non-GMO soymilk powder processing operation, producing over 1,200 metric tonnes of soymilk powder annually using Ontario-grown soybeans.

By processing premium Canadian soy crops domestically, Alinova Canada is adding value to the country's soy industry, revitalizing local industry, and creating meaningful employment opportunities in Eastern Ontario.

The Municipality of South Dundas congratulates Alinova Canada on this milestone and looks forward to the positive economic impact this investment will bring to the community.
